I find this fascinating, I'm curious, because I think the bubonic plague reshaped the European mind. Even in reference to the dark ages, and in contrast to the renaisance where everything was focused on the lighter aspects of life, it seems almost like a backlash.

Then over time, as we have witnessed, European thought and philosophy idealises the mind over the body, is this cutting ourselves off from the trauma of the plague?
