I've noticed over extensive fasting; to start the month for 1-5 days, that it is an opportunity to notice the emotional attachments and yearnings for food, and the context that that food provides to my life. I eat when I want to attach to my mother's love, my father's love, to attach to a particuarly special time in my life, I love curry for this reason, because it reminds me of a transformation I undertook when backpacking in India. I love Japanese food because I practise reiki and karate, and I feel called to the zen buddhist way of life. It's very interesting.
